Commission on the Status of Women
The County Commission created the Commission on the Status of Women in April 2003 to advise the
County Commission, the County administration, the community and all agencies and persons in Hillsborough
County with respect to matters pertaining to the status of women.
Advisory Boards and Councils
Learn more about the opportunities citizens have to get involved in government. Information on

Alliance for Citizens with Disabilities
The Alliance discusses and responds to a variety of issues affecting person with disabilities
and their families.
Animal Services
Enforcing the County's Animal Control Ordinance, provide temporary shelter for lost or stray
dogs and cats, picks up sick or injured animals, and more. An online adoption kennel and lost
animal database also is available for viewing.
Citizen's Action Center
The Citizen Action Center provides timely processing of citizen requests for county services
and complaints, accurate information and appropriate referrals to community social service and
health agencies and county offices.
Citizen's Claim for Injury or Property Damage
The form and guidelines for filing a legal claim against Hillsborough
County for personal injury or property damage is now provided on-line.
Community Link
An innovative new project implemented by the Hillsborough County Citizen Action Center and its
Hillsborough Information Line Program to share vital resources in the community. The Action
Center maintains an extensive database of information related to all social and health services
available in Hillsborough County.

Consumer Protection

Water Resource Services
Providing 33 million gallons of drinking water every day and collects about 24 million gallons
of wastewater. Also includes water restriction and conservation information.
Water Resource Team
Facilitates communication between all County departments on water resource issues and provides
consensus recommendations to the County Commission and the Hillsborough County Environmental
Protection Commission.

City Historic District
The National Historic Landmark District, one of three in the state of Florida, features a collection
of former cigar factories and other unique buildings which now house eclectic shops, restaurants
and a micro-brewery.
